Abstract

Valladolid is a city with a rich historical background that played a significant role in Spain’s history. It is a place where the tracks of the past coexist with the present. In Valladolid you may find a great number of amazing monuments and one of the oldest universities in the world with a splendid library. All of that constitutes an important part of the cultural and national heritage of Spain. This article shows a short history of Valladolid and its monuments. It contains a general description of Valladolid’s University Library, its collections and electronical access resources. The article focuses on a more detailed depiction of three libraries that belong to the University Library of Valladolid: Queen Sofia’s Library, Historical Library of Santa Cruz and Miguel Delibes Campus Library, as well as a description of the European Documentation Centre.
