Abstract

The idea of creating a bibliography of the Tatras, which would cover different areas of knowledge of the Tatra Mountains, Podhale and neighboring regions, first appeared in the 19th century. Since that time, it has been realized by many researchers. One of them was Witold Henryk Paryski, who developed probably the biggest collection of bibliographic entries located on this side of the Tatra Mountains. His file has about 150 000 records and was created over 60 years in cooperation with a lot of experts and lovers of the Tatras. The most intense development dates back to the 1950s, when Paryski worked on "Bibliography of the Tatras", financed by the Polish Academy of Sciences, and 1970s, when he compiled "Bibliography of the Tatra National Park". Nowadays, the entire collection has been digitized and made available to all those interested through online databases.
