Introduction

The first conference Library in the educational area, which was held in 2011, identified a need to exchange views and experiences on the use of new communication technologies in work of a librarian. The concept of Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 has repeatedly appeared in the speeches, so we decided to refer to these issues in our second conference.

The most frequently indicated attributes of library 2.0 are social networking sites used to communicate with users and to expand and to enhance the attractiveness of an offer. The library will not become a double zero one only thanks to modern IT tools and profile on Facebook. No less important is suitably qualified, open to innovation librarian, equipped with knowledge and skills that enable him to build on the achievements of information technology. In short: librarian 2.0.

This term has been found in American literature since 2005, and although the name refers to Internet, librarian 2.0 is not only characterized by efficiency in the use of information technology. Above all librarian is characterized by innovative and creative approach to the development of library services, he has an ease of communication with users, he analyzes their needs and requirements for drawing conclusions, he is a trendspotter, he can quickly make good decisions and he does not cease in the pursuit of the highest quality library services. According to Stephen Abram librarian 2.0 is "a guru of the information age".

During our conference, we want to exchange thoughts and experiences on this topic, and to consider: what knowledge, skills and competence should the modern librarian / information specialist have? Should he develop his skills in information technology? Or may be in contacts with the user? Which of traditional skills remain still valid? Or, as in others countries, should we consider changing the name of library staff education courses? We would like to know the centers in which librarians 2.0 work and to know librarians who have a modern and creative approach to the profession.

Participation in our conference confirmed some foreign guests: Michael Gorman (a former President of the American Library Association), and Sheila Webber (Information School, University of Sheffield, Director of the Centre for Information Literacy Research).
